Saree is not just a normal kind of cloth to wear. It is an emotion, especially for India. Its popularity has increased immensely, that foreign cultures have adopted saree and included them in their lives. No doubt the kind of culture, our ancestors left for us to carry forward, gives a feeling of pride and honor. Saree has been a part of our tradition for centuries and it’s going to be with us for upcoming centuries. Saree requires attention when made. The fabrics are picked particularly for unique kinds of styles.

Saree dates back to 5000 BC and the first material used was cotton. Saree is an integration of attires, to have a good drape on the body. From queens to typical women, saree were perfect suiting for them, back in the days. Elevation in the Development in the history of the Indian saree was the invention of vivid methods of weaving, dyeing, and printing. The skill of rural artisans and weavers was such that their shimmering, multi-faceted textiles achieved worldwide fame even in ancient times. Arts, motifs were all the features that were added later to make sarees look more gorgeous. Almost all the fabrics that were used to make sarees in the ancient days are used till now and some modifications are done. In terms of fashion & design, sarees have changed very much. 

Why was there a need for modifications in sarees?

      

To look different from others is not a trend of the modern world. The queens, women of royal families, and rich people wanted to look better than others. And for that, there was a need for some changes. The one way of adding more beauty to the saree was the kind of jewelry possessed by those women, but it wasn’t enough. Even though the technology was not up to the mark, the art man and craftsmanship were at their finest. The hand block is the kind of method used for decades. Imprints of various patterns were made and laces, having royal finishing were attached to make the sarees, look prominent.
