1.Single Ikat- Single Ikat is the simpler one. And is mainly of two types. The first one being the warp Ikat and the second one is Weft Ikat.
There is only one warp yarn that is dyed by the technique itself, ikat. This is for warp Ikat. Initially, this method was used a lot, and hence, it was among the most adopted Ikat type. This fabric has a noticeable pattern, which enhances its surface. Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Sumatra are the regions where it is produced. And for the Weft Ikat, As the weaving progresses, you see this pattern on the weft. Weft Ikat is just another masterpiece built by skilled artisans and to attract customers. It is slower to produce weft Ikat due to the time needed to stitch patterns after they are passed through the shuttle.
2.Double Ikat- Embroidery using the Double Ikat technique involves resist-dyeing the warp as well as the weft before weaving. Enhancing the pattern and an effort that is worth a while can be seen in Double Ikat. The process to create this fabric is highly complex and time-consuming, which makes it very expensive. Patan is one of the world's most famous cities for Double Ikat fabrics.

There are several steps to make the Ikat fabric as follows-
Step 1- Bundle- Fabric yarn is bundled into thick ropes dyed into a particular pattern.
Step 2- After that process, the tying is laid off and the fabric is up for weaving.
Step 3- After the fabric is woven, the original pattern becomes visible giving the fabric its unique look.
Step 4- It might be processed again, dyed again and other processes are lined up to draw it into the final product.
Step 5 - The fabric is cut as per requirement and sewen.
The production of Ikat is a process that needs skills and both machines and man-work are contributed equally in making the final product.

The price range of Ikat starts from 280 Rs./meter to 580 Rs./meter. Price variations are due to the several types of Ikat there are in the market.

The fabric can be used in creating any trendy home furnishings and apparel like dresses, Jackets, Skirts, Jumpsuits, Kurtis, Shirts, etc. The dresses made from this fabric is very famous and has a unique complexion, especially in the woman of India.
